What these photographs expose is the eternal conflict between the religious and the image, the occult and the manifest. In every rite two aspects are combined, that of the intimate experience of communion with the transcendent, and that of the social externalisation of the rite itself. Hence the difficulty in trying to capture something that remains for the most part forbidden per se. However, Bruno Giliberto on this occasion succeeds in capturing that sacred moment, the fleeting manifestation of that communion with the transcendent, which has left its mark through the presence of that luminous and full void that it is possible to capture in these images, and which only emerges when the gods have come down to earth summoned to participate in these ceremonies where man miraculously meets the sacred in the space of his daily life.
